Funeral services for Rachel Dean Olsen, 74 year old Shattuck resident, were Tuesday, Feb. 10, (1976) at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church in Shattuck. The Rev. Danny Cavett, pastor, officiated. Interment was in the Shattuck Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Good Samaritan Funeral Service.

Rachel "Dean" Olsen was born on June 11, 1901, to Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Hall in Blythedale, MO. She moved with her family to Ellis Co., Ok near Laverne when she was 9 months old. At the age of 14, she was converted and joined the Baptist church. As a young lady, she moved to Shattuck where she worked as a nurse. There she met and married Herman Meier. To this union was born one son, Billy. Both Herman and Billy preceded her in death. In 1927, she joined the Christian Church in Shattuck where she was a faithful member.

In 1948, she married Gus Olsen and helped raise his children. Rachel worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Newman Hospital for many years. She passed away at Newman Hospital on Feb. 8, 1976.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, and one step-son, Gordon. She is survived by 4 step-daughters, Genevieve Miller of Dawn, TX; Marcella Hill of Canyon, TX; Luanna Olsen and Camilla Thompson of Fargo, ND; 2 step-sons, Burton Olsen of Texhoma; Marvin Olsen of Amarillo, TX; and 3 sisters, Lulu Boyer of Enid, Mabel Hinkle of Blackwell, Vivian Hargrave of Edinburg, TX; & 1 brother, Tom Hall of Blackwell, a brother-in-law, Floyd Boyer of Enid.
