Died July 10, 1975 in Shattuck, Ellis Co., OK

Jacob Meier was born to Fred and Eva (Wassenmiller) Meier on Nov. 18, 1895 in Lehigh, KS and passed away July 10, 1975 at the Newman Memorial hospital in Shattuck, after a short illness. He was baptized in infancy. In 1901 he moved with his parents to Shattuck and was confirmed at the age of 15 in the Lutheran church. He served his country in WWI for two years with active duty in Germany. After his service, he established his home in Shattuck and became employed with Continental Oil Co. for 45 years, retiring at the age of 67. He was a town board member for 35 years and City Mayor for 10 years, also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the VFW. He was united in marriage to Anna Kerbs in Feb. 1923. Anna passed away, 11 June 1932. On 12 Nov, 1938, he was united in marriage to Esther Ehrlich and the union was blessed with one daughter, Karen. Mr. Meier became a member of the Congregational church in 1944 and in 1950 accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was faithful to his Lord through many trials and sickness when he could not attend church. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Wall and her husband, William Wall, three grandchildren, Darianna, Julie Marie, and William Joseph; four sisters, Mollie Meier and Ruth Ehrlich of Shattuck, Olinda Karst of Bremerton, WA, and Ophelia Fischer of Chattanooga, OK; many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
