Norman Jacob Kelln, 82 year old resident of Tahoka, TX formerly of Shattuck, OK, passed from this life on August 23, 2016 in Slaton, TX. Norman was born to Jacob Henry and Leah (Faust) Kelln in Shattuck, OK. He was raised in Shattuck and attended Shattuck public schools where he graduated. After high school, Norman attended Oklahoma State University. On July 26, 1952, Norman married JoAnn Hubbard and to this union two children were born Noretta and Norman Jr. Norman lived in Shattuck most of his life. He managed the Higgenbotham-Bartlett Lumber Company from 1953 to 1964. From 1964 to 1966, he and JoAnn were dorm parents at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. Upon their return to Shattuck in 1966, he began a 20 year career at Newman Memorial Hospital in the insurance department. When he retired in 1986, he ran the family farm growing crops and raising cattle. In 2011, Norman and JoAnn moved to Tahoka, TX. Norman was baptized in the fall of 1953 and was a member of the St. Paul Congregational Church in Shattuck. He was a Deacon and Trustee and also taught Sunday School there. Norman was also a member of the Senior Citizens group, the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR) and the 50 plus Reunion Club. Norman loved to tell stories, play pool, play bingo, and attend church. He participated in many pool tournaments. Norman will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Leah Kelln; one sister Evelyn Mounts; and one brother Jim Kelln. He is survived by his wife JoAnn Kelln of Tahoka, TX; daughter Noretta Williams and husband David of Shattuck, OK; son Norman Jacob Kelln, Jr. and wife Karen of Tahoka, TX; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces; three nephews; and many extended family and friends.
