Rama Laray Deeds, 80-year-old resident of Higgins, TX, passed from this life on November 27, 2017 in Clinton, OK. Rama was born May 25, 1937 to John Dennis and Mamie Louellen Clark Boughan in the Bishop Community, Ellis County, OK. She grew up South of Higgins on the family homestead and graduated from the Bishop Schools. In November of 1956 Rama married Baker Eeds and two children blessed this union, Ray and Gay. On September 24, 1993 she married Lewis Deeds and welcomed his two sons Roy and Desley, they made their home in Higgins, TX, where they worked the ranch and Rama worked and retired from the courthouse in Lipscomb. Rama was baptized at the Baptist Church and her and Lewis attended the Church of the Nazarene in Higgins.
Rama enjoyed dancing, playing cards, reading books, watching grandchildren and growing flowers. She was a member of the Red-Carpet Square Dance Club. Rama was loved by all – family and friends.
Rama was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mamie Boughan and her husband Lewis Deeds.
She is survived by her children, Ray Eeds and wife Nancy of Elk City, OK and Gay Harnois of Clinton, OK, Roy Deeds and wife Debbie of Gruver, TX and Desley Deeds of Booker, TX; grandchildren Kari Jo Podany and husband Matthew of Norman, OK, Colby and Josi Hager of Enid, OK, Gina Harnois of Clinton, OK, Kyle and Alice Deeds of Amarillo, TX, Brian and Krystle Haggard of Amarillo, TX; great-grandchildren Beckett and Baker Podany, Sage, Cinch, and Kyra Deeds, Reese and Trulyn Haggard; Jagger Hager; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Memorials may be made to the Higgins EMT Service in care of Shaw Funeral Home.
