Murvel Ray Borth, 81-year-old resident of Canton, TX, passed from this life on June 10, 2019 in Henderson, TX. Murvel was born September 18, 1937 to Goddfred and Lydia (Koch) Borth in Shattuck, OK. He grew up in Shattuck and graduated from Shattuck High School. After high school, Murvel joined the Navy and faithfully served his country from 1956 to 1962. He earned the good conduct medal in 1959.
Murvel married Sheri Borth and to this union two children were born Kristen and Greg. He worked as a civilian for the government in electronics. He traveled all over the world for this occupation and has visited most of the free countries in the world. On November 26, 1986, Murvel married Ann Shirlene Reeves in Grand Prairie, TX and he welcomed two more children to his family Kevin and Leslie. After retiring from his electronics job, Murvel moved to Madill, OK where he owned and operated a ranch. He then moved to Royse, TX, Wills Point, TX and finally Canton, TX where he also operated ranches. Murvel loved keeping busy especially when it pertained to his ranch. He loved living on the ranch and taking care of his cows.
Murvel is preceded in death by his parents Goddfred and Lydia Borth, brother Herman Borth, and three sisters Irene Day, Ella Herndon and Beatrice Gatierrez.
He is survived by his wife Ann of Tyler, TX; son Greg Borth and wife Jennifer of Cedar Hill, TX; daughter Kristen Borth of Canton, TX; step children Kevin Elixson and wife Anna of Little Elm, TX and Leslie Hays and husband Mark of Tyler, TX; brother Bill Borth and wife Julane of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
