Lone Tree
Aka Liberty - Aka Weeks
SEC-22 TWP-17 R-26

LOCATION: 6 miles west of Arnett to Junction of 60 and 283 highways. Turn south, following the blacktop highway 10 miles, turn off onto the dirt road and continue south for 6 miles, go west 1 1/2 mile.

The land was owned by Quillie Barton. It now belongs to the Lone Tree Cemetery Association. The oldest burial on record is that of Blanch Barton in 1904.

Several years ago, Okla Dearing McQuigg wrote to all known family members and friends of the deceased to verify information. Okla and one of her sons worked the cemetery records and developed a map listing all known burials in the cemetery.

In 1993 a great discovery was made when going thru the files of "Pioneers before 1915" at the genealogy department of the Woodward Library. This file gave us the much-needed documents to give Mr. Yocum an identity.

Mr. Hiel G. Yocum turned out to be a Union Civil War Veteran. This file contained copies of records proving he lived, died and was buried in this community. It also provided information on his family and what happened after his death.

If you have family buried in the Lone Tree Cemetery or have obits (with newspapers permission or an obit that you can write) or tombstone photos or individual portraits or can write a short bio and would like to add your information to this website, contact the area coordinator for more information. You can also check out our How to Submit page.

NOTICE. If you submit information to this website and change your e-mail address please notify the area coordinator with the county/cemetery and new e-mail address so we can keep our pages as up to date as possible.

Note: Every effort has been made to transcribe this information accurately. These records MAY CONTAIN ERRORS. Any corrections and/or additions greatly appreciated. As with any genealogy information, this is a source and should be considered as such. It is up to the researcher to verify the accuracy.
