Gerald Alexander, 78 year old Woodward resident, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 30, 2022 in the Harmon Cemetery. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Gerald Louis Alexander was born on June 12, 1944 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to James Simeon and Arlene Addella (McKay) Alexander. He was raised in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School on May 24, 1962. Gerald was inducted into the United States Army on June 21, 1962. He attained the ranking of SPC4 and received a Marksmanship Medal before being honorably discharged on January 31, 1970.
He was united into marriage to Clara Jane Hanlon on June 1, 1971 in the First Christian Church in Seiling. They made their first home in Woodward on Madison Street. Gerald worked as a Foreman for Deepwater Chemicals Inc. He also was a roughneck and a driller and an apprentice barber.
He enjoyed riding horses when he was able, hunting, fishing, and attending car shows. Going to Polly Anna every day for lunch and then Crystal Beach to park and people watch was a part of his everyday routine. He loved spending time with family and friends, taking care of his horses, Rocky Top, Sassy and Fancy, caring for his dogs, Bear and Tuffy, and especially their cat, Kit-Cat. He was a member of the Woodward Rodders Car Club.
Gerald is survived by two sons, Martin Ray Alexander and wife Carol Jean, Curtis Wayne Alexander; two brothers, James Edward Alexander, Robert Andrew Alexander; two sisters, Linda Sue Rivera and husband Manuel, Marilyn Faye Thomas and Rex Crawford; grandchildren, Alisha Fancher and husband Gary, Mark Clingenpeel, Christopher Wayne Alexander, Curtis Brodie Alexander, and step grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Serenity Marie Randolph and Nicole Leann Fancher; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Clara Jane Alexander, one daughter, Lisa Gayle Knott, two sisters, Straucie Maxine Tune, Donna "Sugar" Alexander Baldwin, and one grandson, Tad Paul Alexander.

Memorials may be made to WOOF Pet Rescue with the funeral home accepting contributions.
