Ronald Lee Latta was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on August 18, 1947 to James Truman and Katherine May Latta. He passed away on March 8, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a long illness with cancer.
He is survived by his brother Duane Latta of Moore, Oklahoma; sister Lyla Richard of Jones, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Jessie Latta of Moore, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Janet Latta of Lewisville, Texas; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joy, parents Truman and Katherine Latta, two brothers Larry Dean Latta and David M. Latta, brother-in-law Larry Richard, sister-in-law Yvonne Latta, sister-in-law Alameda Latta, nephew Kevin Latta, and grandparents.
Ronald attended Fargo Public Schools, Ft. Supply Public Schools, and graduated from Enid Public Schools. After graduation he joined the Army and spent 19 months in Vietnam. While in Vietnam he attained the rank of SP-5 and was a Helicopter Mechanic. In addition, he was an expert Rifle M-14 and an expert Rifle M-16 and was awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. After his term in the Army he moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where he worked at Razien Metal Company. He later moved to Perryton, Texas and worked for Western. While living in Texas he met Vonda Stephenson and her daughter Dionne. Ronnie and Vonda married and they and Dionne lived in Perryton, Texas. He later moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where he married Joy Shepherd of Woodward, Oklahoma on October 3, 1981. He worked on the ranch with his brother-in-law. After some time, he and his wife moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he worked for Warren Apartments. He continued to work for Warren Apartments until his retirement in 2010. Upon retiring, he moved back to Oklahoma to live with his sister in Jones, Oklahoma. During his retirement, he worked for Latta Air Conditioning of Moore, Oklahoma.
Memorial services will be held at Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward, Oklahoma on March 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, north of Fargo, Oklahoma.
