Woodward – The funeral for Nelson Lynn Woods Jr., 70, will be 2 PM today in Gage High School Auditorium. Burial will be in Gage Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service.
He was born April 29, 1931, in Shattuck to Nelson and Mary Hardy Woods and died Monday, August 6, 2001.
He graduated from Arnett High School in 1950 and served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He married Thelma Faye Thomas on August 6, 1956. They lived southeast of Gage where they had a dairy farm until 1978. In 1984, they moved to Woodward. He worked at numerous jobs until 1989, when he became employed by Woodward Public Schools, for which he served as janitor for 13 years. He continued to keep odd jobs.
Surviving are his wife, Faye of the home; two sons, Leon of Gage and Lyndon of Enid; two daughters, Thelma Morris of Fargo and Kay Paul of Woodward; one sister, Mary Jane Mitchel of Canon city, Colorado; three brothers, Roy and Dale of Gage and Grover of Tulsa; seven grandchildren; and three step – grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Relay for Life.
