Born Jan 29, 1923 in Shattuck, Ellis Co., OK
Died Mar. 3, 2004 in Shattuck, Ellis Co., OK

Funeral services for Fred Laubhan Jr., 80 year old Gage resident, were held Sat. Mar. 6, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gage Church of Christ. Ray Don Jackson and James Adair officiated.

Fred was born June 29, 1923 in Shattuck, to Fred and Annie (Ehrlich) Laubhan. He grew up in Shattuck and graduated from the Shattuck High School in 1941. It was during his high school years that he received the nickname that would stick with him the remainder of his life. During an exciting basketball game, he made a last second, half-court shot to win the game, and the janitor hollared "That was a Ghost shot". On May 2, 1948, Fred was married to Betty DeVore, and they made their home in Gage. Fred operated a dry cleaning business in Gage for 38 years and also served as a substitute mail carrier and postal clerk for 20 years during the same time.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Gage and the Gage Rotary Club. Fred loved all sports events, playing cards and fishing. Although he was a very quiet man, he had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a loving husband and father, who always had time to spend with his loved ones. He valued friendship and some of his closest throughout his life were those made as a student.

Mr. Laubhan died Mar. 3, 2004 at the Shattuck Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bob and Harry.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Stan Greene of ElDorado, KS and Jane Ann and Jim Carter of Russell, KS; four grandchildren: Darcy Fowler, Jordan Carter, Joe Carter; Julie Carter; three step-grandchildren Coletta Flaharty and husband, Troy; Mason Greene and wife, Caitlin, and Brooke Greene; two-step-great-grandchildren: Tehl Lynn and Rio Flaharty; three sisters-in-laws: Alene DeVore of Denver, CO; Evelyn Fishgrap of Gage; and Alberta DeVore of Durant; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorials suggest to the church.
