Joanne Hardy, 71 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in Shattuck. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Gage Cemetery.
Naomi Joanne (Moser) Hardy was born on September 4, 1948 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Thaddeus Claude Moser and Dorlis Juanita (Fenimore) Baker. Joanne spent her younger years with her family living in McPherson, Wichita, and Hays, Kansas. Then in 1958 her family moved back to Woodward, Oklahoma where she graduated from Woodward High School in 1966.
Joanne was united in marriage to Billy Ray Hardy on March 4, 1966 at the Nazarene Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. Joanne and Billy Ray raised their family in Gage, Oklahoma and then moved to Woodward in 1994. She enrolled in the LPN Program at the Woodward, Oklahoma Vo-Tech and graduated with the class of 1978. Joanne worked as a circulator and scrub nurse for over 20 years at both Newman Memorial Hospital and Woodward Regional Hospital. She also joined the First Baptist Church in Gage, Oklahoma where she was baptized. What brought her the most joy was being a Mom, wife, and a surgical nurse. Her hobbies included painting western style pictures, playing cards and board games, reading books and watching movies.
She is survived by her husband Billy Ray Hardy; son William Wayne Hardy and wife Eve of Glen Burnie, Maryland; grandson Jordan Hughes of Pasadena, Maryland; grandson Nathan Hughes of Glen Burnie, Maryland; great-grandson Camden Hughes of Pasadena, Maryland; brother Michael Wayne Moser and wife Patricia of Fort Supply, Oklahoma and stepmother Stella Moser of Woodward, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Linda LaLon Hardy, father Thaddeus Claude Moser, mother Dorlis Juanita Baker, and stepfather Leon Baker.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society with the Billings Funeral Home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
