Robert Eugene "Bob" White, long-time Woodward resident, answered God's call to Eternity on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, in Shattuck.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m. at Fargo Cemetery with Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bob was born June 3, 1954, to Robert and Donna (Fraze) White in Guthrie, OK. He attended school in Guthrie until the family moved to Woodward, where he graduated with the WHS Class of 1972. He achieved a certificate in diesel mechanics from Okmulgee State Tech and thereafter worked for Halliburton in Woodward for a number of years. Over time, he also worked at J&R Transports and then Weatherford ALS until his retirement.
There were three great loves of Bob's life: his Savior, his family, and his dogs. All creatures loved and trusted Bob, but there was a very special bond with canines. Bob always adopted his "bestest buddies" from shelters, and he especially had a soft heart for dogs others had written off. That's why we know Rainbow Bridge was an especially happy place on March 29 as Bob reunited with beloved pets gone before.
Bob's quiet nature sometimes hid his many acts of kindness because he rarely spoke of them. But there are many stories of his lending a helping hand, including the time he carried accident victims to safer ground when he came upon a wreck while driving to school. He delighted in his niece and nephew and entertained them with his radio-controlled planes. Bob was a man of many capabilities, including sketching beautifully, but above all, Bob would want to be remembered as a Man of God.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Steven White and wife Jane of Fargo; sister Beverly Abell and husband Chris of Dallas, TX; niece Genta Hurst and husband Micah of Edmond; nephew Clinton and wife Becca of Edmond, and great-nephews Jack, Reid, Cale, and Luke. A host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends also mourn his passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to donate to WOOF Pet Rescue Society in Bob's name, with Billings Funeral Home, 1621 Downs Ave., Woodward, OK, 73801, acting as custodian.
"His Lord said unto him: Well done, good and faithful servant."
