August 8, 1927 at the Orim Place Northwest of Freedom, Elvin and Edna (DeVous) Wanger welcomed Loyd Edwin Wanger, their first born, into their home. School time began in the Edith country school northwest of Freedom and his education in Mooreland Schools, Freedom area Unite Country School, Buffalo schools and finishing at Gage High School. Concerning education, Loyd was very proud to have provided all four of the children with a college degree, the base of their successes.

August 1945 Loyd enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he was a Fireman Second Class. He exercised this profession as a volunteer fireman for the Fargo Fire Department. After discharge from the Coast Guard, he fulfilled a dream by purchasing a Harley motorcycle and riding it up Pikes Peak. Loyd married the loved of his life and high school sweetheart Jacquiline (Jackie) Woods April 5, 1947 and settled on the Eddie Barrett place North of Shattuck, milking cows and working on building the elevators at Shattuck. Here, daughter Sanzee and son Ronald joined the family. In 1950, Loyd purchased his grandfather Philip P. Wanger's homestead northwest of Freedom where he farmed, milked, and worked at Camp Houston 66 Station. Daughter Marsha and son Rodney joined the family. In 1959 Loyd purchased the Kennedy 66 station on a handshake deal and moved the family to Fargo where remained until his death. In 1970 he purchased the Bennit farm west of Fargo and added to his dream realizations by building a new brick home, having a working farm with irrigation and raised quality alfalfa and wheat for local dairies and cattleman.

Camping, sports, Square Dancing, RV-ing, traveling and family were Loyd's pleasures and focus. He loved watching the local area basketball games following them to the state playoffs where was a regular attendee of the class A and B basketball tournament. He served on the Fargo Coop Board until 2003, retired from the service station in 1983 and continued his farming and ranching passion. Loyd gave his life to Christ in 1963, while attending the Fargo United Methodist Church and continued his faithful servanthood in Woodward Free Will Baptist Church. Loyd was well known in the churches and the community for his "secret" pancake mix and his delicious sausage and biscuits, something the grandkids always looked forward to at grandpas house. His faithful fellowship to the "Fargo coffee group" often resulted in him serving his biscuits and gravy. He loved to work with wood making cutouts, toy chests, bird houses, and game boards for family and friends. Loyd�s tireless commitment to the community continued to his last days faithfully maintaining the grounds of the Fargo Cemetery, his final resting place.

Loyd went to be with his Lord October 8, 2015 at the family home, Loyd is survived by his beloved wife Jackie of the home, children Sanzee and husband Grady Suthers, Fargo; Ronald and wife Sue Wanger, Battle Ground, Washington; Marsha and husband John Miller, Visalia, California; Rodney and wife Patty Wanger, Stillwater, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren, Twenty-five great-grandchildren, Three great-great-grandchildren; Brothers: Lewis and Harold Wanger; Sisters: Dorothy Ishmael, Lily Neill, Alice Jones and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Fargo Gymnasium with Dr. Allen Mabra officiating. Memorials may be made to the Woodward Free Will Baptist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
