JACKIE WOODS WANGER

July 27, 1928 - June 18, 2018

Jacquiline Genevieve (Jackie) Woods Wanger, 89, began her new life with Jesus Christ and surrounded by her children at her rural Fargo, OK home on June 18, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday June 25, 2018 at Fargo High School Gymnasium, 5th & Main, Fargo, OK. Burial will follow at Fargo Cemetery directly following the service. Immediate family will be available for visitation 10:00-10:45 prior to the service. The service will be officiated by Woodward Free Will Baptist Church Pastor Allen Mabra. Funeral arrangements by Billings Funeral Home, 1621 Downs Ave., Woodward, OK.

The family of Jacquiline G. Jackie Wanger wishes to thank Faith Hospice, OK Heart Hospital North, Alliance Home Health, Newman Memorial Hospital, Life Flight and EMSA for their contributions in her care.

Jackie was born at home on the Plonty Place N.E. of Arnett, July 27, 1928 to Chester (C.O.-Chet) and Veta Grace Sneary Woods. Moving to the John Morris place N.W. of Gage she attended 3 years at South Independence country school. She entered the 4th grade at Gage and graduated from Gage High School in May 1946.

She married the love of her life, Loyd E. Wanger in Gage, OK, April 5, 1947; enjoying 68 and a half years of marriage and happiness until Loyd’s death in October 2015. She started working for Southwestern Bell Telephone, her first job shortly after graduation from high school in San Bernardino, CA and relocating to Woodward, OK. In 1959 she became a Substitute US Postal Clerk at Fargo, OK and later served Fargo as Clerk. Progressing in the postal system, she was appointed to the Gage Post Office as Officer in Charge leading the appointment of Postmaster of that Office remaining so until her retirement in 1989 after 30 and a half years of service with the US Postal System.

Jackie was active in her postal organization NAPUS, serving as the President of the Ok. Division, traveling to conventions across the Continental US, Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. She was an active member of the Gage research Club, her weekly coffee group. Her love of camping and traveling led to the purchase of an RV and becoming a member of the Western OKIE Ramblers #405 for 26 years. Having her own Hobby House, Jackie actively sewed, pieced quilts, wove baskets, painted items from the beginning of her marriage until the passing of Loyd in October 2015.

Jackie is survived by her Children: Sanzee Glee and Grady Suthers, Fargo, OK; Ronald Loyd and Sue Wanger, Battle Ground, Washington; Marsha Nan and John Miller, Visalia, CA; Rodney Ray and Patty Wanger, Stillwater, OK. Grandchildren: Eric and Lynn Pittman, Zaneta Jesse Clevenger, Jarrod and Kayla Pittman, Damara and John Giusti, Chance and Becky Suthers, Blake and Shane Suthers; Stephanie Jones, Veronica Wanger Darling, Emory and Jessica Wanger, Meredith Miller/Dana Tenneson, Brittany and Jason Woods, Heath Wanger, Lacey and Josh Bixler, Seth Wanger, Cade and Amy Crawford, Kyle and Tara Crawford. Great Grandchildren: Stetson Elwell, Eric Newly and Kaleigh Elwell, Skylar Pittman, Allison and Chris Watson, Ashley and Pat Nelson, Alexis Lamb, Jayden and Micaela Clevenger, Grayson and Saylor Pittman, Daniel, Jacelynn and & Aubrey Giusti, Colby and Sierra Iliff, Mary Iliff, Ashton and Breclyn Suthers, Jacey and Justin Jones, Liesl Tenneson, Brooklyn & Eli Woods, Townes & Vivian Bixler, Sam, Dawson, & Emery Crawford, Braylee & Josie Crawford, Great-Great Grandchildren: Chandler and Landon Elwell, Crew & Dylan Watson, Hadley Nelson, and Hayzlee Iliff. Brother: Vance and Beverly Woods. Sisters: Jo Sperry, Sonya Hamilton, Sue and Bill Pittman. Brothers-in-law: Lewis and Harold Wanger and Sisters-in law: Dorothy Ishmael, Lily and Don Neill, Alice Jones and numerous other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by Grandson Jason Wanger, Husband Loyd, her Parents Chester/Grace Woods; Parents in law Elvin/Edna Wanger; Sister Wynola Fields; Brothers-in-law Calvin Sperry, Jerl Hamilton, Jerry Fields, Lennes Jones, Golden Ishmael; Sisters-in-law Bonnie and Ruth Wanger.
