Detta Fae (Wisner) Thomas

November 6, 1920 ~ April 20, 2003

Fargo – The funeral for Detta Fae Wisner Thomas, 82, will be 2 PM Wednesday at Fort Supply Baptist Church. The Rev. Donnie Howell will officiate. Burial will be in Fargo Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Woodward.

She was born November 6, 1920, to Harland H. "Harley" and Mabel Gartrell Wisner and died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at her home north of Fargo.

She graduated from Fort Supply school in 1938. In May 1942, she graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in elementary education and English. She taught briefly at Doris rural community school, southeast of Fargo. On October 3, 1942, she married Norman L. Thomas of Fargo in Woodward. He was called into military service and she followed him on stateside assignments during World War II. After the war, they farmed and raised cattle. She returned to college in 1964 to update her credentials, then taught English and second-grade in Fort Supply school system for 10 years. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she played the piano.

Surviving are her husband, Norman of the home; two sons, N. L. and Bob, both of Fort Supply; three daughters, Karen Woodward of Lawton, Carolyn Thornton of Woodward and Katie Wingo of Fort supply; nine grandchildren; and 11 great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice.
