Luella Gartrell, 93 year old Woodward area resident, died Sunday, August 16, 2020 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 20, 2020 in the Crown Heights Baptist Church. A private interment will follow in Fargo Cemetery, with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or the charity of your choice with the funeral accepting the contributions.
Luella Faye (Mitch) Gartrell was born on February 2, 1927 on the family farm north of Fargo, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of August and Mattie Jane (Thomas) Mitch. Luella attended the Pleasant Country School and Fargo Public Schools. She was united in marriage to Leo Gartrell on February 2, 1944 on the farm north of Fargo, where they made their home. Luella and Leo were blessed with three children, Merla, Gary, and Larry. The family made their home on a farm Northeast of Fargo. Luella worked at Western State Hospital for a time, but she was mainly a stay at home mother for her children. Besides being a mother Luella enjoyed sewing and quilting and being with her family.
She was member of the Fort Supply Baptist Church.
Luella is survived by her daughter, Merla Gilliam and husband Bob of Woodward; sons, Gary Gartrell and wife Irene of Fargo; Larry Gartrell and wife Elaine of Woodward; grandchildren, Teresa Pond and husband Dean; Jody Gartrell and wife Hailey; Darrin Gartrell and wife Andrea; Gary Don Gartrell and wife Brenda; Jason Gartrell and wife Brandee; Brett Gilliam and wife Michelle; Kristi Rogers and husband Lanny; Susan Rear; and Holly Brown; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Eva, and Beulah, brother, Floyd, and grandson-in-law, Michael Rear
