Our brother, George Batt, was born Sept. 21, 1869, in Kutter, Franz, Russia. He departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1940, at his home near Shattuck, Okla., at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 18 days.
In 1888 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Baum, who departed this life in 1896. This union was blessed with four daughters. In October, 1890, he came to the United States, locating at Marion, Kansas. In 1906 he came to Oklahoma, locating near Shattuck.
In 1901 he was united in marriage with Katie Schick. This union was blessed with five sons.
In May, 1911, he was converted and baptized by Bro. J.E. Ehrhorn, uniting with the German Baptist Church near Goodwin, Okla. He was a true, earnest Christian and loved the Lord's work. He was a teacher and also treasurer of the Sunday School for many years. He was faithful in attendance until ill health did not allow his going to the services very often.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his widow, Mrs. Katie Batt; three daughters, two sons; also, an adopted daughter Freda. Three sons and one daughter preceded him in death. There are 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
