Orvis Edward Range of Arnett, OK passed from this life on November 29, 2017 in Corn, OK at the age of 85 years and 3 months. He was born to Orvis Willard and Anna May Range in Katie, TX on August 29, 1932.
He grew up in Texas before the family moved to Garden City, KS around age 17. Orvis served in the United States Army from 1953-1955, and later the Army Reserve until 1961. Following his return from the service, he was married to Delia May (Daniels) Range on August 29, 1955 in Clayton, NM and to this union four children: Craig, Janet, Gary, and Terry were born. The couple made their home in Garden City and later Arnett where Orvis worked as a dozer operator for Ellis County for 31 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, camping, bird watching, and spending time with his family.
Orvis was a member of the Arnett Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge Post #192.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Delia Range; son, Terry Range; Brothers Bert Range and Ray Range; grandsons Heath Range, Orlando Garza, and Shawn Wagoner.
Orvis is survived by his children Craig and Carmen Range of Lone Wolf, OK, Janet and Lloyd Schoenhals of Clinton, OK, Gary and Annette Range of Clyde, TX. He is also survived by 16 grandkids and spouses, 18 great grandkids with one on the way, and one great-great grandson as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He also leaves behind his 2 beloved dogs Candy and Cocoa.
Funeral Services for Orvis Range will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church of Arnett with Reverend John Wheeler presiding. Masonic Rites will be performed by Scott Vincent. Burial will follow at DeBolt Cemetery, all under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home. Memorial Donations in Orvis’ honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project with Shaw Funeral Home, Box 276, Vici, OK 73859 serving as custodian of the funds.
