Ramona Jessie Ball Jackson, daughter of George Olden and Josie Mae Fothergill Ball, was born in Woodward, OK on July 17, 1938. She passed from this life on December 21, 2019 while living in Grace Living Center in Woodward, at the age of eighty-one years, five months, and four days.
Jessie attended Sharon Public Schools in Sharon, OK.
On September 24, 1954 Jessie and Lemuel Jackson, were united in marriage in Woodward, OK. The home was established in Wichita, KS, and four sons, Douglas Ira, Rick Allen, Rusty Lenn, and Jeffery Joe, and one daughter, Cindy Mae, came to bless this home.
Work brought the family back to Woodward where Jessie was employed by several Local nursing homes in the cafeteria area as a cook and her most enjoyable job was working for her sisters at the West Side Café in Woodward. She also was a wonderful mother and homemaker.
Jessie was a member of the United Methodist Church, having received Christ into her heart and life in her youthful years. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, and a gracious friend and neighbor. In later life Jessie met Alvie Barton her companion for her remaining years.
Jessie’s special interests in life were her beloved grandchildren, growing plants, going to garage sales, watching birds, and reading local newspapers.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Josie Ball; her daughter, Cindy Richey; grandson Josh Richey; sisters, Audrey Crites, Willa Mae Selby Stanley, and Betty Jo Davidson; brothers, Wilfred Ball, Bill Ball, Roy Ball, and John Ball; sister-in-law Marilyn Ball; brothers-in-law Richard Selby and Marion Stanley.
She is survived by her children, Doug and wife Konnie of Woodward, OK, Rick and wife Dona of Pocola, OK, Rusty and wife Sheila of Woodward, OK, Jeffery and wife Jenny of Woodward, OK; grandchildren: Daniel, Adam, Kyle, Brookie, Rikki Sue, Samuel, Rachel, Jason, Jessica, Jeremy, and Jentry; two sisters, Patsy McDaniel and Norma Story and husband Jerry; sisters-in-law, Bernice Ball, Donna Ball, and Arnetta Ball; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Vassar Cemetery. Visitation will be available at Shaw Funeral Home of Vici during office hours, please note that we will observe special hours with Christmas approaching.
