William Otto Ebeling was born September 13, 1934 in Iraan, Texas to Robert Lewis and Louella Katherine (Anderson) Ebeling. He passed from this life on June 9, 2012 at the age of 77.
Bill grew up in Odessa, Texas. He attended grade school in Goldsmith, Texas and then went on to high school in Odessa, graduating in 1952. He was a superb football player in high school and received 17 different football scholarships. He attended Texas A & M at College Station, Texas where he played football as well.
Bill was united in marriage to Kay Spry in May, 1953 in Odessa. They welcomed the birth of each of their three children; Melinda (Mindy) Carol, William Otto and Andy Coy. Bill and Kay lived in several places, Odessa and Andrews Texas while he was working in the oilfield as a wire line operator. They later moved to Sheridan, Wyoming for a time. Bill ranched for a few years. He was offered a job in Woodward so he returned to Oklahoma.
Bill and Darlene Bowman Johnston were married in 1980. He became the loving father to Darlene’s four daughters. They made their home for a time in McAlester, Oklahoma, then Smithville and Odessa, Texas before returning to Enid, Oklahoma. After Bill’s retirement he and Darlene returned to Woodward.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and especially all the grandchildren. He enjoyed reading a good book in his free time.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louella Ebeling. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Darlene of the home in Woodward; children, Mindy and Gary Mohundro of Saulsbury, TN, William Ebeling, Jr. and Andy Ebeling both of Sheridan, WY, Kathy and Brad Churchill, Alva, OK, Becky and Bob White, Woodward, OK, Charlotte and Scott Clary and one granddaughter, Woodward, OK; grandchildren, Christopher and Keri Stewart and 3 sons of Eads, TN, Gary Lynn of Saulsbury, TN, William O. Ebeling, III, Sheridan, WY, Joshua and Megan Moulder and 3 sons of Woodward, OK, Amber and Ivan Wolanski, Edmond, OK, Joni and Cody Erikson, Alva, OK, Jennifer and Weston Winfrey and one son, Pratt, KS, Jessica and Michell Kriegh and one son, Alva, OK, Jacob Churchill, Alva, OK and Robert and Angie White and 3 children, Woodward, OK; brothers, Robert (Bob) Ebeling, Ft Benton, MT, John Ebeling, Mansfield, OH; sisters, Bea Stevens, Billings, MT and Joan Moore, Lincoln, NE; many nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the Church of the Nazarene, Woodward, OK.
