Gloria Gale (McBride) Cook

Gloria Gale McBride Cook was born June 1, 1946 at Oklahoma City, OK. and finished her race on earth at the age of 74 on June 27, 2020. She was the daughter of James Hendrix and May Dell (Jandon) McBride. Her family settled in Anadarko, OK. and Gloria attended grade school and graduated from Anadarko High School. Following high school she moved to Oklahoma City and then to Woodward, Ok. where she met the love of her life, Tim Cook.

On July 10, 1971 Gloria was united in marriage to Timothy Cook at the First Christian Church in Mooreland OK. Their journey together was filled with many miles of travel. Their first home was in Alva, OK. Their training and racing of horses took them to Montreal, Canada and Detroit, Michigan and numerous other destinations before they returned to Woodward, OK. establishing Cook Training Stables. In 1990 they relocated to the family farming operation west of Vici, OK. and continued the entire families involvement in Cook Training Stables. The horse racing industry was a large part of Gloria’s life along with her role of wife, Mother and homemaker. She loved her family, enjoyed her grandchildren and was a loyal supporter of their activities. She was a member of the Vici Methodist Church. She was an avid fan of OU and the OKC Thunder.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, James and May Dell McBride and two brothers, Victor Cohlmia and Larry McBride.

Memories of happy trails are cherished by her devoted husband, Tim Cook, her daughters, Terri Salisbury and husband Ken and Randi Sweet and husband James all of Vici, OK. Her beloved grandchildren, Neil Salisbury, Newt Sweet and Kelli James and great-grandchildren, Timothy Ryker Ray Williams and Kodi Lane James. Her brother, Winford McBride and wife Vicki, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
