Peggy Lavena Skelton, 84 year old resident of Leedey, OK, passed from this life May 6, 2016 in Corn, OK. Lavena was born November 24, 1931 to Joe Kenneth and Lila Muriel (Howard) Skelton in Dewey County near Leedey. Lavena started school at Trail going her first three years and then attended Leedey High School graduating with the class of 1950.
Lavena worked at several businesses in Leedey which included Seba Drug Store, C.B. Cobb Drug, Breeze Dry Good, and Leedey Cotton Gin. She decided to go back to school at the Oklahoma Beauty College in Oklahoma City graduating in 1957. After passing the state board exams Lavena opened Lavena’s Beauty Shop in down town Leedey. She ran her business for 50 years until she sold it in 2008. Lavena said she made many wonderful friends throughout all those years. Lavena was a wonderful Christian woman and a member of the First Baptist Church in Leedey.
Lavena is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Lila Skelton. She is survived by her many cousins and numerous friends she has made over the years. She will be dearly missed.
