George Randall Allen passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Oklahoma City after courageous battle with cancer. Born in Trail, Oklahoma, on November 27, 1933 to Viola Blanche Benear and George Ross Allen. Randall was schooled in Dewey County, including Trail, Leedey and graduating from Camargo. He lived and farmed in the Trail and Taloga area for many years. Randall and his family later moved to Amarillo, Texas in the early 80's. Since 1997 Randall's residence has been in Blanchard, Oklahoma with his dear wife, Deloris.
Upon his retirement, Randall could be found in his garden that surrounded his home. Many hours of love and care were spent planning, trimming and caring for the numerous beautiful plants and flowers that surrounded the house. He could still split a block of wood on the first swing when other younger healthier men struggled. Randall also enjoyed going to auctions and searching for antique cookie jars among other various and sundry gems.
Randall offered many hours of visiting and comfort and support to family members and friends' in their time of need, whether at their hospital side or visiting with them in their home. Randall offered whatever assistance he could. His huge heart and hands cannot be replaced and will be missed so much.
Randall was preceded in death by his parents, Viola Blanche and George Ross Allen, as well as his four siblings, brothers, Melvin (Mary Roise) Allen, Leroy Allen and David Allen; sisters, Marjorie (Nick) Nichols; and special cousin, Wilma Day.
Randall is survived by his wife Deloris Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Earl Parsons, daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Stephen Griffin, and granddaughter Haley; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Barbara Allen and grandsons, Payden and David; sisters-in-law, Iva Allen and Jean Allen. Survivors also include step-children Darla Jo Montgomery, Leslie Montgomery and Frank Taddiono, Rick and Jan Montgomery. Grandchildren include Melissa,Shane, Tony, Andy, JoAnna; numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 in the First Baptist Church, Leedey, Oklahoma with burial following in Trail Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey, Oklahoma.
