Woodward, Okla. — Jimmie Dewayne Thompson was born September 1, 1964 to Orne and Deloris (Johnston) Thompson in Buffalo, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on October 11, 2011 at the age of 47 years.
Jimmie lived on a ranch in Buffalo, Oklahoma before moving to Vici, Oklahoma to live on the Jefferie Ranch at the age of four. He lived with Mick Young and Cindy Young Pedersen for approximately four years and later Doug Vinyard joined the family. Doug and Jimmie soon formed a brotherly bond. Throughout Jimmie’s life, he was mentored by many friends and family, in particular Mick Young and Jerry Brace who were father figures to him.
Jimmie started school at Vici and then attended Fargo High School for two years before returning to Vici, graduating with the Class of 1982. He then attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
In 1985 Jimmie was united in marriage to Denise Castor. Together they had two sons, Joseph Lee and Jacob Lynn. In 1990 Jimmie married Becky Kuper in Woodward, Oklahoma. To this union son, Joshua Dale and daughter, Jordan Michelle were born. After he was married, Jimmie spent the remainder of his life in the Vici area.
Jimmie worked as a rancher and as a truck driver. He enjoyed being outside riding four-wheelers and raising orphan deer. He was registered with the Dewey County Game Department.
Jimmie was baptized at the age of ten at the Vici United Methodist Church where he served as the youth leader during his children’s early youth. He was a member of the New Covenant Church in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, Orne Dallas Thompson and grandparents, William and Arlie May Thompson and Loyd and Essie Johnston. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Joseph Thompson, Jacob Thompson and wife Tommi, Joshua Thompson and Jordan Thompson all of Vici, Oklahoma; mother, Deloris Hedges of Vici, Oklahoma; brother, Randall Loyd Thompson and wife Dana of Vici, Oklahoma; sisters, Sandra Bradford of Elk City, Oklahoma and Joan Ferrell and husband Rick of Vici, Oklahoma; one grandson, Ethan Thompson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Vici High School Auditorium with burial following in Vassar Cemetery, Vici, Oklahoma. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Vici, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family and Tribute video viewed at shawfuneralhome.net.
