Woodward, Okla. — Donald Eugene Lynes, son of Clarence Edward and Beulah May (Ross) Lynes was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on April 19, 1943 and passed from this life in Vici, Oklahoma on February 20, 2013 at the age of 69. Don lived in Harmon, Oklahoma for the first seven years of his life and attended Harmon School through the second grade. Don then moved to Vici where he attended Vici Public School and graduated with the class of 1961.
Don married Elma Kennedy and they made their home in Vici. He welcomed two daughters, Robin and Debbie and one son Marty Gene. On August 29, 2007 Don married Brenda Cox and was blessed with two more daughters, Crystal and Heather. The family made their home in Vici. Don worked as a carpenter and contract pumper.
Don loved to ride his golf cart and watch his grandkids play sports. He also loved to fish and travel and spent many vacations in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. He was a member of the Vici Christian Church and was baptized in June of 1976.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Elma Lynes, parents, Clarence Edward and Beulah May Lynes, son, Marty Gene Lynes, brother, Wayne Lynes, brother-in-law, Darwin Drake, nephew, Ronald Lynes, father-in-law and mother-in-law Guy and Imogene Wyrick. He is survived by his wife Brenda Lynes of Vici, Oklahoma; daughters, Robin of Columbia, Missouri, Debbie Dempsay and husband Roger of Darrouzett, Texas, Crystal Beverly of Leedey, Oklahoma, and Heather Bailey of Seiling, Oklahoma; brother, Charles Lynes and wife Pearl of Harmon, Oklahoma; sisters, Arveda Drake of Woodward, Oklahoma, Wilma Day and husband Verlin of Vici, Oklahoma and Wanda Riseley and husband Gary of Vici, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Ann Lynes of Wichita, Kansas; brother-in-law Danny Wyrick of Seiling, Oklahoma, one aunt; one uncle; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other family and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday February 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jerold Shaw Auditorium Vici, Oklahoma with interment following in Sunnyside Cemetery, Vici, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family and Memorial Tribute viewed at shawfuneralhome.net.
