David "Joe" Ross Longhofer, of Vici, passed into the arms of his Lord on December 26, 2017 at the age of 76 years and six days. Joe was born in Shattuck, OK on December 20, 1941 to Dave and Treva Longhofer. He grew up in the Arnett area, graduating from Arnett High School with the Class of 1961. After graduating, he attended trade school in Okmulgee, OK graduating with the Class of 1963. On August 23, 1969, Joe married the love of his life Loretta Jeanne Allen in Gage, OK, and to this union three children, David “Brian”, Layne Allen, and Carey Dean were born. The couple made their home in Shattuck, Yukon, and Del City before settling in Vici in 1974 where Joe worked as a maintenance mechanic at Terra. The couple attended the Vici United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. He also loved spending time with his family, especially following the grandkids around to games.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandmother Clara Getz; father Dave Longhofer; mother Treva and step-father Jim Creed; and father and mother-in-law Dale and Ada Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Loretta Longhofer of the home; son David Brian Longhofer of Vici and his children Trevor of Vici and Macie Longhofer of Granite, OK; son Layne Allen Longhofer and his wife Angie of Woodward, OK, and their children DeAnna Longhofer, Preston Longhofer both of Higgins, TX, Haley Dezort and her children Talen and Harper Dezort of Cushing, OK, and Andrew Todd of Woodward; son Carey Dean Longhofer and wife Cindy, and their children Dylan, Kaleb, and Bryson Longhofer all of Vici; sister Karen Branstetter and husband Peewee of Arnett; brother Larry Longhofer and wife Marlene of Shattuck, step-sister Joan Barker and husband Kenny of Woodward, as well as several aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
