Ruth Sweet Conine Leaser was born on July 1, 1923 to Ralph and Iva (Lynes) Sweet at Mutual, Oklahoma. Ruth attended school at the Sibel Country School and then transferred to Vici Public School, graduating in 1942.

Ruth married Calvin Conine in 1943 at Woodward, Oklahoma. The couple lived in various places, spending time in California during the war. Ruth helped her country by driving a truck for the Army. They returned to Oklahoma and lived at Woodward, Hobart, Oklahoma City, Vici, and then for a short time in Holly, Colorado. Their union was blessed with two children, son Kenneth and daughter Cheryl Sue. The family moved to Yukon, Oklahoma in 1963, where Calvin passed away in 1967.

Ruth married Bill Leaser of Calumet, Oklahoma in 1969. They made their home in Yukon. Bill passed away in 1993. Ruth remained in Yukon until her death on December 28, 2007.

Ruth was a waitress in Vici and for many years in Yukon. She enjoyed working with the public. As she became older her foot problems forced her to retire from restaurant work so she started a home care business, babysitting. Known to many as “Gernie” she always enjoyed the visits with those she helped nurtured. Ruth accepted the Lord into her life and was baptized in Woodward, Oklahoma at the Bible Baptist Church.
