Charles Dwight Kenrick, son of Obed and Glessnell Wingo Kenrick was born at Vici, OK. on October 16, 1938. He passed from this life at the age of 81 on May 19, 2020 at Bivins Pointe Health Care in Amarillo, TX. Charles grew up in the Vici community with his seven siblings. He attended grade school and high school at Vici, OK. where he was a graduate. On April 24, 1959 at Woodward, OK. Charles was united in marriage to Delores Hendrix. A union lasting more than 56 years. Three children blessed their home, two daughters, Monte and Paula and a son, Brian.
Charles joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for eight years before receiving an honorable discharge. He was then employed in the oilfield and pipeline industries. Over the years the family lived in Mountain View, CA., Vici, Oklahoma City, Yukon, Binger, Elk City and Burns Flat, OK., Spearman, Houston and Livingston, TX. Following the loss of his beloved wife, Delores, in 2016 Charles relocated to Fritch, TX.
His memory is cherished by his daughter, Monte Cogswell and husband, Dan, Jr. of Fritch, TX., six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. His sister, Billie Mayes of Piedmont, OK. and his brother, Elvin Kenrick of Enid, OK., other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Obed and Glessnell Kenrick, his wife Delores Kenrick, his son, Brian Kenrick and his daughter, Paula Kelley. Four sisters, Rowena Files, Lawaive Horner, Wanda Moore and Joyce Horner and one brother, Lowell (Curly) Kenrick.
Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Cemetery in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O. Box 276, Vici, OK 73859.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Vici, OK. Visitation will be available on Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Memorials donations may be made to Sunnyside Cemetery in care of Shaw Funeral Home; P.O. Box 276; Vici, OK 73859.
