OPAL ROY

April 19, 1922 - April 05, 2018

Opal Pearl (Alton) Roy, age 95, passed from this life April 5, 2018 at Stillwater, OK. She was born April 19, 1922 in Dewey County to Nellie (Marrison) Alton and Arthur Alton. They lived on a farm west of Seiling, OK. near the community of Cestos where Opal grew up with her sisters, Iona, Gladys, Bessie and Hazel. She attended a country school until the 8th grade, then a consolidated school, graduating in 1939.

In May of 1940 at Oklahoma City, OK. she was married to Edd Roy, someone she had known all her life. They made their home on a farm five miles from where Opal grew up. Three children were born to this union, Eddy, Lynne and Arthur. In 1960 Opal was baptized at the Vici Christian Church along with all members of her family.

Edd and Opal were active in the Vici community while their children were in school and they lived on the farm near Cestos until their children were grown. In 1969 they moved to Phoenix, Az. where Edd was employed as a manager and handyman at an apartment complex. Opal worked at Motorola and helped Edd at the apartments. They returned to OK. in 1975, establishing a home in Stillwater where they worked for their daughter in the apartment business. In 2013 she made her home at The Renaissance of Stillwater.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband Edd in 1993, her beloved daughter Lynne in 2017, parents, and four sisters Iona, Gladys, Bessie and Hazel.

Cherishing her memory are her sons and their wives, Eddy and Penny Roy and Arthur and Lynda Roy all of Vici, OK; son in law, Gene Smith of Stillwater, OK; seven grandchildren, Travis Roy of Vici, OK., Terry and Teresa Roy of Vici, OK, Tonja and Alan Quinby of Buffalo, OK., Gina-Lynne Smith of Tulsa, OK. Craig and Debbie Smith of Edmond, OK., Adam and Jennifer Roy of Vici, OK., and Tyson Roy of Vici, OK; eighteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
