Orpha Mae (Martin) Forrest Quimby, 89 year old former Vici resident, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Grace Living Center in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Janet Fitz officiating. Burial will follow in the Riley Cemetery.
Orpha Mae Martin was born on November 19, 1929 on the family homestead near Catesby, Oklahoma. Orpha's dad was like a gypsy, so the family moved a lot, mostly in and around the Catesby area. Orpha attended school in various schools in Oklahoma but mainly in the Lovell, Oklahoma area.
She was united in marriage to George LaRault Forrest in Lipscomb, Texas. They made their home on the family farm southeast of Vici. They were blessed with one daughter Ginger. Orpha cooked at the Vici Grade School for many years and she was the cleaning lady for many people in the Vici community.
Orpha was a member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, canning, and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter Ginger Forrest and David McDannald of Vici; three grandchildren, Misty Morris and husband Robert of Woodward, John Wrenn and wife Teri of Belle Plaine, Kansas, Lynn Lancaster of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, DeAnna, Preston, Chris, Jonathan, Adam, and Lorraine; great-great-grandchildren, Jemma, Jameson, Jordan, Jarek, Jalie, Caleb, and Elsie; two sisters, Lois Mitchell of Woodward, Marlene Hunter of Oklahoma City; step-son, Geary Quimby and wife Pam of Ames; step-grandchildren, Cody, Wayne, and Kelli Quimby; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Forrest, one sister, Geraldine Bates, one brother Jim Martin, husband Vern Quimby, and her parents, Gerald and Alice Martin.
