LARRY GENE JOHNSON

Larry Gene Johnson, son of Raymond Earl and Muriel (Longwill) Johnson, was born November 3, 1940 southeast of Seiling in the Hucmac community. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 71 years.

Larry was raised by his aunt and uncle, Jim and Ethel Chaloupek. He was educated at Seiling Schools graduating from Seiling High School in 1959 where he enjoyed playing football. Throughout his life, he continued to follow the Seiling Wildcats. He married Donna Coulson, June 6, 1959 at Woodward. They had two children, Jamie and Larry Jr. "Buddy".

They made their home in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City areas where Larry worked in sales for food brokerage companies. In 1990, Larry and Donna purchased the Crossroads Motel in Seiling and were an excellent team in their business venture. They also operated the Shamrock Cafe for sometime. They were both active in the community. Donna became ill and lost her battle with cancer May 16, 2000. Larry moved to the Tulsa area to be near his daughter and family. He met Donna Jackson and they married December 6, 2002. They made their home at Wagoner since.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Johnson of Wagoner, one daughter, Jamie Rodrigues and husband Joe of Collinsville, one son, Larry G. Johnson, Jr. "Buddy" and wife Pam of Oklahoma City, six grandchildren: Joshua (Rebecca), Jeremiah, Lauren (B. J.), Joseph (Bailey), Maddy and Nell, four great grandchildren, Caleb, Lawrence, Ella and Jocelyn, brother, Ray Johnson (Carolyn), brother Butch Caress (Karen), sister Ann Sedgwick (Len). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends including Dan Caress, Harry Caress, Pete Caress (Donna) and Butch Caress (Karen). Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jimmy, as well as, his aunt and uncle Ethel and Jim Chaloupek.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Riley Cemetery southwest of Seiling with Pastor Michael Brien, officiating. Services are under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home in Seiling.
