Loyd Jay Hoyt, son of George Hiram Hoyt and Merle Elizabeth Elliott Hoyt was born September 6, 1930 in Norwalk, California and passed from this life at the age of 86 at Seiling Municipal Hospital, Seiling, Oklahoma.

He attended East Side grade school in Holtville, California and graduated with the class of 1950 from Holtville Union High School.

On February 10, 1951, he was united in marriage to Roberta “Eleanor” Kelly in Holtville, California, a union lasting nearly 45 years. Following the loss of Eleanor in 1996, Loyd was united in marriage to Janet Marie Hickman Snow in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Seiling, Oklahoma.

Loyd was baptized and served as a deacon at the Southern Baptist Church in El Cajon, California and was a current member of the Church of Christ in Seiling, Oklahoma.

The family lived in numerous places in California over the years before moving to Taloga and Seiling, Oklahoma. Loyd worked as a truck driver, a rancher and a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spent hours restoring vintage pickups and cars.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor and three brothers, Merlin, Alton and Howard.

He is survived by his wife Janet, of the home in Seiling, his children, Loyd Kelly Hoyt of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Georgia Lynn Cozad of Seiling, Oklahoma, David Mark Hoyt, El Cajon, California, Sally Luann Blumer, of Cestos, Oklahoma, Shawna Marie Hoyt, Goodyear, Arizona, his stepson, Vernon Jay Snow of Tulsa, Oklahoma and two brothers, Leon Hoyt of Point Blank, Texas and Don Hoyt of Yuma, Arizona, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday March 3, 2017 at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Duane Eggleston presiding. Burial will follow at Riley Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in Loyd’s honor may be made to Riley Cemetery with Redinger Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds. Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663.
