Cara Mae (Terrel) Charboneau

Cara Mae (Terrel) Charboneau
May 23, 1936 ~ February 17, 2019

Cara Mae Charboneau was born on May 23, 1936 to Lenn and Vonda “Reka” Terrel at their home in Dewey County, Oklahoma. Cara passed from this life in Norman, OK, on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the age of 82. Cara grew up in the Cestos Community, attending the Richmond School where she graduated in 1954. On January 15, 1955, she married the love of her life, Roger Eugene Charboneau, at her parents’ home. To this union, four children, Vonda, Dan, John, and Michael were born. The couple lived for a time in Tucson, AZ at Davis Air Force Base before returning to Oklahoma in 1958 when Roger was honorably discharged. They moved to Oklahoma City where Roger began working for the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company. After Roger’s retirement, the couple moved to a farm west of Seiling where they renovated a home and began retirement together.

Cara was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed many things including keeping score for Dad’s Redwing softball team, watching any of her children or grandchildren’s sports activities, having morning coffee with Donna and Junior Charboneau, visiting with her sisters, bowling with Medie and Shirley, and watching many OU sporting events (especially women’s basketball and softball). She was a strong woman in Christ and led her husband and children to know the Lord while enjoying many church services and activities.

In addition to her parents, Lenn and Reka, Cara was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Roger Charboneau and a sister Lennet Bledsoe.

Cara is survived by her four children, Vonda Charboneau of Norman, Dan Charboneau and wife Pat of Ada, Drs John Charboneau and wife Semira of Ada, and Mike Charboneau and wife Cynthia of Norman; five grandchildren: Tiffany, Kyle, Bo, Sam, and Seth Charboneau; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Max Garrison; a brother Kent Terrel and wife Cathy of Vici, and two sisters, Anita Branstetter and husband Ron of TX, and Gena Christensen and husband Tom of Mutual, OK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Cara Charboneau will be held at 10:30 on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Mutual First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Riley Cemetery, all under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends may donate to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
