Paul Arlo Burr

Paul Arlo Burr
May 25, 1927 ~ January 19, 2020

Paul Arlo Burr, a 92 year old resident of the Camp Creek community, passed from this life on January 19, 2020 in Weatherford, OK. He was born May 25, 1927 to Harvey Lee and Bessie Elizabeth (Dawkins) Burr. Paul was born and grew up on the family homestead at Camp Creek. Paul attended grade school at Camp Creek and 9th and 10th grades at Taloga High School. In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country and following his discharge in 1946, he returned to the family farm and completed the eleventh grade.

On March 4, 1952, in Clayton, NM. Paul married Wanda Mae Clark from Buffalo, OK., a partnership lasting 67 years. They made their home in a small house, on a farm owned by Henry Aaron, in the section just South of their current home. To this union three sons were born, Charles Lynn, Carl Dean, and Alan Dale. In 1967, they tore down Paul’s parent’s house, which had been built around a log cabin. They built a new one on this property, which had been homesteaded by Paul’s great uncle and aunt. This is in the Camp Creek area near Taloga. Paul was active in the community and attended Camp Creek Church of the Nazarene his whole life. He became a faithful member in 1955.

Farming was Paul’s life, and along with his own farming operation, he did custom harvesting from 1968 to 1979. The entire family was involved in the custom work. They traveled from the southern OK. state line to the Canadian border on the harvest circuit.

Paul was dedicated to his community, his church and his family. He was a good steward of the land, a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Bessie Burr, his beloved wife, Wanda, two sons Alan and Carl and his sister, Avis Hazelbaker.

He is survived by his son Charles Lynn Burr and wife Kristie; grandchildren Crystal, Shawn, Heather and Brandon; seven great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Camp Creek Church of the Nazarene in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O. Box 276, Vici, OK 73859.
