Frances Jean Sherwood Ferrell

Frances Jean (Sherwood) Ferrell, 80 year old resident of Leedey, OK, passed away on December 11, 2015 at Grace Living Center in Clinton, OK. Frances was born May 2, 1935 to Frank and Edna (Bell) Sherwood on the homestead in Moorewood, OK. She attended Hammon Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1953. On May 30, 1953 she married the love of her life Fred Ferrell and to this union two children were born Ted and Amy.

The family moved to Elk City in 1960, were Francis took care of them and the home. While living in Elk City, she regularly attended the 2nd and Adams Church of Christ and helped teach Sunday school there. In 1975 the family moved to Leedey where she helped Fred around the farm doing all kinds of chores.

On the farm Frances enjoyed horses, chickens, the cattle, and her garden. She also enjoyed walking and every day would walk down the old dirt road for exercise. Frances was very dedicated to her Lord and was a faithful church member at the Leedey church of Christ. Frances also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to write letters to all her friends and never missed sending a card for special occasions. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband Fred Ferrell; parents Frank and Edna Sherwood; brothers Frankie Sherwood and Durwood Sherwood; sisters Cora Hawkins, Nellie Lester and Josie Body.

She is survived by her son, Teddy and wife Debra Ferrell of Leedey, OK; daughter Amy and husband Mike Dickens of Burns Flat, OK; sister Betty Maxwell of Rosamond, CA; grandchildren Scott Ferrell of Leedey, OK, Shane Carman of Weatherford, OK, Brett Carman of Weatherford, OK, Sandra and husband Travis Latham of Round Rock, TX, Emily and husband Jeff Western of Leedey, OK; great-grandchildren Andrew Latham, Mikayla Latham, Jaelyn Western, Kaylee Western, Lily Ferrell; Tasia Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
