The funeral service for Frankie Dean Wanzer, age 75, will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK.
Frank was born December 13, 1941 to Arthur and Mildred Wanzer in Walters, Oklahoma and passed away December 27, 2016. After high school he served 4 years in the Navy. He had his own business, Wanzer Tree Service that he took over after his brother Robert passed away, and he also hauled hay for local farmers. Then he worked in the oil field for many years. He worked for U.S. Gypsum for 15 years where he retired. He was a very loving, hard working man, the true definition of a family man, so caring and compassionate. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his great grand babies, and friends.
He is survived by his wife Katherine of many years; one brother Gene Wanzer of Canton, OK; one sister Karen Shoemaker of Enid, OK; three children, William Wayne Wanzer of Fairview, OK, Kathy Taylor of Thomas, OK and Jose Wanzer of Ringwood, OK; along with 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grand kids, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mildred Wanzer and one brother Robert Wanzer. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in memory of Frank D. Wanzer through the funeral home at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
