Donald Pat LaFave passed from this life on March 4, 2023, at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 8 days. Pat, as he was known, was born on January 27, 1937, to parents George and Lillian (McGuire) LaFave in Calvin, Oklahoma. The family lived in Calvin until 1947 when they moved to Oakwood, and then in 1951 they moved to Seiling which would become their home. Pat worked for the Roger Wilcox Ford Garage, The DX Mechanic Shop, then worked in the oilfield as a roughneck from 1961 through 1981. He also pursued his love of farming and ranching during this time.
In 1968, Pat was united in marriage to Deva Ann English Stong. With this marriage Pat gained three children, Greg, Ronnie, and Shelley which he welcomed with open arms.
Pat had a deep love for farming and his cattle. Pat’s cows were his pets. He could walk up and pet them, and the cows knew him as well. Pat truly loved being a rancher and farmer. Pat and Deva enjoyed their grandkids and loved watching them participate in their activities.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Deva in 2021. He is survived by his children Greg Stong of Enid, Ronnie Stong of Seiling, and Shelley Garibay of Taloga. He also leaves behind a sister, Grace McNeill from Colorado. He will be dearly missed by his 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece Susan and nephew Mark. There are other relatives and many friends who consider it a privilege to have known Pat.
