Deva Ann (English) LaFave was born on April 14, 1939 in Trail Creek, Oklahoma, to parents Jewell Scott and Arta Viola (Ellis) English. She passed from this life on February 6, 2021 at the age of 81 years, 9 months, and 23 days. Deva was a lifelong resident of Dewey County. She attended the Parallel School in her early years and from the 5th grade until graduation, she attended Putnam school. At the age of 15, in 1954, Deva came to know the lord and was baptized into the Christian Church in Putnam where she was a member. She was a member of the 1957 graduating class. After graduating, Deva attended 1 year at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
In 1968, Deva was united in marriage to Pat LaFave in Pampa, Texas. Three children were brought to this union: Greg, Ronnie, and Shelley. They made their home in Seiling, OK where she resided until her death. Deva worked as a cook at the Seiling Nursing Home for many years until her retirement.
Deva’s greatest joys was watching her grandkids play sports. She was always there to cheer them on.
Deva is survived by her husband, Pat, of Seiling; son, Greg Stong of Enid, son Ronnie Stong of Seiling, and daughter Shelley Garibay of Taloga, OK. Also left to cherish her memory are 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter, nieces, other family members, and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Oakwood Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial Donations in Deva’s honor may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663).
