Glenda Jean (Foster) Williams was born May 17, 1935 at Kilgore, TX. At the age of 85 her journey on earth was completed on September 26, 2020 at Oklahoma City, OK. She was the only child of Joe Theron and Pauline L. (Wilbanks) Foster Cofer. The family moved to Illinois when Glenda was a child and to Perryton, TX. when she was a teenager. She attended school at Perryton and was a member of the graduating class of 1953. On November 10, 1954 Glenda was united in marriage to Melvin Ivan Williams at Spearman, TX. They established their first home in Perryton, TX. Upon the enlistment of Melvin in the United States Marine Corp. and during his years of service, they lived in Jacksonville, FL., Cherry Point, N.C., Quantico, VA. and Camp Pendleton, CA. Their union of fifty years was blessed with four children, three sons, David Michael, Mark Edward and Gary Lynn and a daughter, Paula Jo. Following Melvin’s honorable discharge from the service, the family returned to his hometown of Leedey, Ok. and with his coaching career they lived in Cordell and Seiling OK. before making Leedey their permanent home.
Glenda was a devoted wife and mother and a loyal supporter of her husband and children’s activities. She was active in the Leedey community and a faithful baptized member of the Leedey First Baptist Church where she played the organ and piano in her younger years. She was the manager and a cook at the Leedey school cafeteria and she enjoyed cake decorating, maintaining her flower beds, tending to the hummingbirds and cooking. Glenda was a lady of many talents and a kind and helpful friend and neighbor. Her top priority was always her family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Foster and his wife Coralee, her mother, Pauline Cofer and her husband Clyde, her beloved husband, Melvin Williams and their infant son, David Michael Williams.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Paula Graybill and husband, Glynn of Piedmont, OK., Mark Williams of Leedey, OK. and Gary Williams and wife Melody of Piedmont, OK. Five grandchildren, Jamie Williams of Edmond, OK., Theron Graybill of Rocky, OK., Garrett Graybill of Bridge Creek, OK., Stephen Williams of Edmond, OK. and Rianna Williams of Hammon, OK. Eight great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
