Wilbert Enos Kauk was born June 1, 1950 to Melvin and Stella (Stancel) Kauk in Elk City, OK. He passed away in Elk City, OK on May 4, 2014 at the age of 63 years. Enos graduated from Leedey Public Schools with the Class of 1968 and attended Panhandle State College where he met and married Nancy (Sisney) Kauk on December 27, 1970. They lived and worked in Guymon, OK until 1978 when they purchased the family farm south of Leedey and began a lifelong endeavor of farming and raising cattle. In the early 1980’s, Enos purchased his first dozer and so began his passion of conservation work for area farmers as evidenced by the many ponds, dams, terraces and waterways scattered across the area. He especially enjoyed volunteering his time and equipment on prescribed burns, wildfires and assisting the school on many projects including the construction of the first softball field.
Enos served for 29 years as a member of the Red Star Rural Water Board, was an honorary member of the Leedey Volunteer Fire Department and served as a board member. He also served as a board member for the New Herman Cemetery for many years.
Enos was baptized into the Lord early in his life and served the Lord by the way he lived his life each day. He absolutely loved to work and approached each day as a challenge. He loved helping his family and friends and especially loved seeing them succeed and accomplish things that seemed impossible. He will be missed, but will always be remembered for his patience, kindheartedness and love he showed to the land and people.
Enos was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Stella Kauk, one brother-in-law, W.G. Carroll. He is survived by wife Nancy of 43 years, a son, Randy Kauk and wife Dru of Red Oak, OK, a daughter Robin Harrel and husband Cody of Leedey, OK; 5 grandchildren, Asher Kauk, Reed Kauk, Maddie Harrel, Quincee Kauk and Ellie Harrel; two sisters, Donna Maxwell and husband Terry of Taloga, OK, Debra Carroll of Konawa, OK; one bother Kenny Kauk and wife Terri of Leedey, OK, along with a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He enjoyed and loved his family and friends, he always said he had 2 daughters and 2 sons and the grandkids were each special in their own way to him. He enjoyed traveling and looking at the land, and never ever met a stranger.
Graveside services will be held May 8, 2014 at 10:00 am at New Herman Cemetery under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home.
