Austin Ross Kauk, 86 year old Leedey resident, passed from this life with his family by his side at home December 19, 2015. He was born November 5, 1929, to Edward William “Ikie” and Carolina “Carrie” Louise (Steiger) Kauk near Leedey, OK. He grew up working on the family farm, hunting, fishing, playing on the Johnniesville baseball team, and gathering with extended family at sausage making time. Austin attended Eureka School during his early years and graduated from Leedey High School in 1947.
On February 5, 1955, he married Roberta Kile in Elk City, OK. The young couple lived in Pueblo, CO for a short time and then moved back to Leedey where Austin farmed and raised cattle, an occupation he thoroughly enjoyed. They were the proud parents of Dana Kay and Vicky Lynn.
Austin and Roberta celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last February. Austin was a dedicated family man and delighted in his grandchildren Lindsey and Seth as well as great-grands Avery and Dycen Cearlock and step-great-grands Austin, Breyden, and Cayne Cearlock.
Austin was preceded in death by his parents Ikie and Carrie Kauk, three brothers Gilbert, Melvin and Johnny, two sisters Florence Kauk and Geraldine Robertson.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Roberta of the home; daughters Dana Kauk of Canadian, TX, and Vicky Kauk-Lady of Leedey, OK; grandchildren Lindsey Cearlock and husband Derek and Seth Lady all of Leedey; five great-grandchildren; two brothers Junior Kauk and wife Patty of Corn, OK, and Allen Kauk and wife Maxine of Leedey, OK; one sister Margaret Nichols of Elk City, OK; many nieces, nephews and friends.
