Allen "Diz" Lorraine Kauk, 80-year-old retired business owner, passed away April 30, 2016. Diz was born on November 11, 1935, the youngest child of Edward William and Carolina Louise (Steiger) Kauk in Elk City, OK. The family lived southeast of Leedey, OK where Diz attended Eureka Country School. When Eureka School closed he attended Leedey School graduating with the Class of 1954. Diz continued his education at Oklahoma City University obtaining an associates degree in electronics.

On June 15, 1958 at the United Methodist Church in Foss, OK, Diz married Maxine Richardson. In September 1958 Diz was drafted and did his basic training in Colorado. Then he was assigned in Nike Hercules headquarters at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. When assignments were made, the officer in charge asked who could type and Diz said he could because he took typing in high school. This landed Diz in an office job at headquarters. The others were assigned guard duty at the missile silos. Diz was honorably discharged in 1964 and returned to Oklahoma City, OK. In 1965 Diz, Maxine and children, Michael Allen and Tina Michelle moved to Rhea, OK, where they purchased the Rhea Store and ran it for several years. Then they acquired a propane business in Leedey and opened an appliance store operating them until retiring in 2012.

Diz was baptized as a young man and joined the Leedey United Methodist Church and was willing to serve on church committees. He played a huge part in the construction of the church fellowship hall. He was also a member of the Leedey Chamber of Commerce. Diz enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially his grandkids and rarely missed a ball game. Diz and Maxine enjoyed 57 years and 11 months of a wonderful marriage.

Diz was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Carrie Kauk, four brothers Gilbert, Melvin, Johnny, and Austin, two sisters Florence Kauk and Geraldine Robertson, and daughter Tina Michelle Lorenz.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Leedey, OK; son Mike Kauk and wife LaDena of Leedey, OK; son-in-law Marty Lorenz of Kremlin, OK; brother Junior Kauk of Leedey, OK; sister Margaret Nichols of Elk City, OK; sister-in-law Roberta Kauk of Leedey, OK; grandchildren Rachel Bancroft and husband Michael of Leedey, OK, Tamara Kauk and Blair Kauk of Weatherford, OK, Hunter Lorenz and Haylee Lorenz of Kremlin, OK; great granddaughter Kinley Grace Bancroft of Leedey, OK; several nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
