George Elmer Johnson departed for his heavenly home, February 11, 2011.He was born March 13, 1929 in Holdenville, OK to Jay Lee and Mary Malissa (Crawford) Johnson. George graduated from Seiling High School in 1947.
George farmed, custom hayed and worked for U.S. Gypsum Co. at Southard. He retired from U.S. Gypsum in November 1987 after 37 years of service.
George married Donna Jo Willis on August 20, 1950. To this union was born three children, Jack, Gayle and Don. Donna Jo passed away November 13, 1986. On May 24, 1989 George was united in marriage to May Ann Shower Marks.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Gayle Ray Bredel. He is survived by his wife, May Ann, Jack and Don all of the home, and Gayle’s husband, Marvin Bredel of Kingfisher, OK.; Ben Marks and his wife Julie of Seiling, OK.; Roxanne Black and her husband D.A. of North Ridgeville, OH.; Elizabeth Burghardt and her husband Darrel of Hitchcock, OK. His grandchildren are Kris Killman and his wife Regan of Canton, OK.; Danielle McGinn and her husband Matt of Okeene, OK.; Megan, Morgan and Margo Marks of Seiling, OK. and Kristi and Kelsi Burghardt of Hitchcock, OK.; one great-grandson Trigger Killman of Canton, OK.
Services will be at the Okeene Church of Christ, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Burial will be at the Munice Cemetery west of Canton under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association through Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home.
