Kenneth “Ken” Earl Johnson, 76, was born on February 6, 1945 to Earl Hyer Johnson and Vera Mae (Ames) Johnson in Fairview, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Ken grew up on the family farm east of Seiling, Oklahoma. Ken graduated from Seiling High School with the Class of 1963. Ken was supported and encouraged to become a pharmacist by his uncle, Jay Johnson, who is one of six pharmacists in Ken’s family. Ken attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma graduating in 1968 as a Registered Pharmacist.
While at SWOSU, Ken met the love of his life, Sylvia Lou Saylor. They were married in September of 1967 in Lawton, Oklahoma. After graduation, Ken and Sylvia moved to Buffalo, Oklahoma where Ken took his first job as a pharmacist at City Drug in June of 1968.
In October of 1968, Ken and his cousin, Johnny Johnson, along with his partner “Dub” Rickard purchased Biven’s Drug in Seiling, Oklahoma. Ken and his wife moved to Seiling, where they began their family in 1971. A few years later in 1975, Ken bought out his two partners to become the sole owner of Biven’s Drug, which he owned and operated for almost forty-three years.
Ken is survived by two sons, Kevin Johnson and his wife, Connie of Dacula, Georgia, Kenlyn Johnson and his wife, Krista of Hydro, Oklahoma; one daughter, Delpha Goodman and her husband, Randal of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Kylyn Johnson of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Matthew Goodman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Kirsten Johnson of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Caroline Johnson of Dacula, Georgia, Emily Goodman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; numerous other family members.
Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Lou Johnson; father, Earl Hyers
Johnson; mother, Vera Mae Johnson.
Visitation for Ken will be on Friday,
February 26, 2021 from 3:00pm – 7:00pm and Saturday, February 27, 2021 from
9:00am-7:00pm.The family will be having private funeral services. Under the
direction of Redinger Funeral Home in Seiling, Oklahoma.
