The funeral for Carolyn Sue Cook, 71, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Canton Christian Church. The Rev. Steve Driskill will officiate. Burial will be in Munice Cemetery, west of Canton. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc., Fairview. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.

She was born Jan. 30, 1938, in Woodward to Garland and Lillie Catlett Shannon and died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

She was raised by her grandparents, Ethel and Allen Catlett.

She married Millard Cook May 23, 1953, in Woodward. They moved to Seiling, where she worked as a waitress at Brownie's Café. They moved to Kansas and then to Enid, where she worked as a waitress. They then moved to Woodard. In 1960, she worked more than six years at Western State Hospital, Fort Supply, as a nurse's aide. They moved to Watonga where she worked at R.B.'s Café. She later owned and operated the Longhorn Steak House in Longdale, selling the business four years later. She was a cook at Longdale School for 10 years. She received her CNA license and worked for Fairview Hospital and Healthcare for 15 years. They moved to Enid in 2007.

Surviving are her husband, Millard, of the home; one son, Melvin Cook of Tennessee; three daughters, Patty Williams of Bethany, Louise Glaser of Elk City and Becky Echols of Enid; one brother, Wendell; one sister, Ona Hall; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Canton Christian Church.
