Ella Marie Ames, 66, of Canton, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014. She was born June 18, 1947 in Watonga, OK to Raymond Albert and Margaret Frances (Potts) Ames.
Ella owned and operated Ella's Cafe in Canton, OK from the late 1970's to the early 1990's. In her spare time she loved to spoil her grandkids. She was always doing art and crafts and crocheting blankets. When she wasn't working she was in Colorado at the family cabin.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Lola Potts and Orlo and Ella Ames; and her father Raymond Ames; She is survived by her son Michael Grothe of Canton, OK and daughter Charity Boeckman and husband Cletus of Hitchcock, OK; mother Margaret Ames of Canton, OK; sister Marilyn Jackson and husband Steve of Oakwood, OK; grandchildren Chelsae Grothe of Prague, OK, Autumn Rose Grothe of Canton, OK, Kyle Stong of Colorado Springs, CO, Cameron Stong of Hitchcock, OK and Luke Boeckman of Hitchcock, OK; one great-granddaughter Sheylah Chambers of Prague, OK; nieces Brittany Murray of Oakwood, OK and Melanie Corley of Houston, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Canton Christian Church in Canton, Oklahoma with Pastor Justin Brodie and Pastor Robert Barr officiating. Interment will follow at Munice Cemetery west of Canton under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.
