Loyd George Winburn was born to George and Stella (Hickman) Winburn on October 31st 1938 in Lenora, Oklahoma. Loyd married Luella (Craig) Winburn on June 3rd 1961 at the First Baptist Church in Leedey, Oklahoma.
Loyd attended school in Lenora, Taloga, and Richmond Oklahoma. Loyd graduated high school in 1956 at Richmond High. He then completed Auto Mechanics Training in 1958 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Loyd also took courses at Oklahoma State University to further his career as an auto mechanics teacher. Loyd was in the U.S. Army and stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri from 1961-1966 during the Vietnam War. Loyd taught Auto
Mechanics at Lookeba-Sickles Public Schools from 1967-1992. He then retired from teaching and continued working as the bus maintenance engineer for the school. In Loyd’s later years he enjoyed staying at his lakehouse, taking naps all day, drinking peach brandy, fishing, going to concerts, cruises, and car shows with his son Kirby and grandson Austin. He enjoyed watching his grandkids Brittany and Tyler play ball and listening to Rylee sing. He also enjoyed teaching his grandson Austin how to play checkers and dominoes. Loyd also loved spending time with his great grandsons Rhett and Riggs. Loyd had a big heart and was always willing to help those in need. He never met a stranger and loved his family very much. Loyd went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at the age of 81.
Loyd is survived by: his 2 daughters Sumer Winburn and Carala Crawford and son-in-law Dennis Crawford; 4 grandkids Austin, Rylee, Tyler, Brittany and husband Chance; 2 great grandkids Rhett and Riggs, and many other family and friends.
Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Luella (Craig) Winburn, his son Kirby Winburn, his parents George and Stella Winburn; and grandparents Richard and Lizzie Winburn and Fredrick and Jennie Hickman.
Graveside Service was held at Mound Cemetery, Friday July 31 in Taloga, Oklahoma.
Officiating were Rev. Mike Davis and Rev. Tom Clifton
