Carol Don Schomp, of Taloga, was born on March 1, 1938 to Don Earnest and Blanche (Bailey) Schomp at the home in Taloga. He passed on June 29, 2020 at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 28 days.

Carol Don was raised in Taloga, graduating from Taloga High School with the Class of 1956. He then attended SWOSU in Weatherford, OK for four years, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business. On January 22, 1960, Carol Don married Lola Fern Morrison in Enid, OK, a union of 60 years, and to this marriage three children were born: Suzette Sarena, Sheila Gale, and Don Morrison. The couple made their home in Amarillo until 1966, when they returned home to Taloga where Carol Don worked as a farmer. He was also a Specialist-4 in the United States Army Reserves.

He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and going to his “office” (the local coffee shop). He also enjoyed hunting, collecting guns, welding, fishing, farming, and was known as a Civil War and WWII history buff. He was also a member of the NRA. Carol Don was a kind and quiet man who said what he meant and meant what he said.

Carol Don was baptized into of the First Christian Church of Taloga as a young boy, and while not the oldest member of the congregation, had attended that particular church longer than anyone else.

Carol Don Schomp was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Blanche Schomp.

He is survived by his wife, Lola Fern Schomp of the home; children Sarena Kauk and husband Monty of Leedey, OK, Sheila Watts and husband Travis of Edmond, OK, and Don Schomp and wife Kim of Borger, TX; a brother, Dale Lloyd Schomp and wife Ava of Weatherford, OK; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Carol Don Schomp will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at the Mound Cemetery of Taloga at 10:00 AM.
