Dr. Russell Floyd Allen, M.D., of Nichols Hills, passed from this life on January 3, 2018 at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 25 days. He was born to Harold and Elizabeth Allen in Billings, OK on January 9, 1933. He grew up in the Oklahoma City area, graduating from Central High School with the Class of 1952. After graduation, Russell served in the United States Air Force and the United States Air National Guard with the 124th Airtraffic Control and Warning. He then attended the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, earning his Medical Doctorate in 1963. Russell served his internship at Saint Francis Hospital of Wichita. He also worked as a physician at Deaconess Hospital, the Mercy Hospital consulting staff, and Baptist Hospital Emergency Room. He married Marjorie A. (Stiles) Allen on May 28, 2014 in Taloga, OK.
Russell was a member of the Oklahoma City Clinical Society, Oklahoma County Medical Society, Oklahoma State Medical Association, American Medical Association, and the International Society of Toxinology. He has also had his work published in several scientific journals including the Proceedings of the Oklahoma Academy of Science, the Anatomical Record, the American Zoologist, and the Southern Medical Journal. In his spare time, Russell enjoyed ballroom dancing and was an amateur competitive ballroom dancer for over 40 years and has competed in multiple venues across the U.S. and also competed in England and Scotland. He also enjoyed scuba diving.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Jean Carney and Phyliss Green.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie of the home, son Michael Allen of Germany, grandson Ryan Allen of Germany, and cousin Anita Logan of Taloga, OK, as well as a lifetime of friends.
Private Family Burial at Mound Cemetery in Taloga, OK with a Celebration of Life services to be held at a later date in Oklahoma City.
