SHARON KAY (TAYLOR) McDONALD of Oakwood, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 after a long illness at the age of 70 years, 5 months, and 2 days. Sharon was born to Sherman and Virgie May Taylor in Thomas, Oklahoma on November 17, 1945. At a young age, the family moved to the homestead in Oakwood, where she was raised and educated. After the ninth grade, Sharon obtained her G.E.D. from the Oklahoma City Community College. She continued working in the Oakwood and Watonga areas before becoming a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA). Sharon then worked for Seiling Nursing Home for many years until her health forced her to retire. She married the love of her life, Doug McDonald in August of 1971 at Watonga, and the couple made their home on the same homestead by Oakwood that her family held for generations. In her spare time, Sharon enjoyed fishing and reading. She was also an avid pet lover, having raised and cared for many dogs and cats over the years.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Sherman and Virgie May Taylor, and an infant brother.

Survivors include her husband Doug McDonald of the home; son Norman Cooley of Oakwood; daughters Brenda Reichert and husband David of Canton and Cheryl Rice of Raymore, MO; brothers Gary Taylor of Watonga, Vernon Taylor of Minnesota, and John Taylor and wife Linda of Watonga; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Friends are invited to join the family for lunch at the Church of Christ on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 12:00. A private family graveside will be held later that afternoon with Reverend Jaroslaw “Jarek” Topolewski presiding.
